Mech-Tech College and Emma's Beauty Academy joined the Consortium of Metropolitan Libraries (COBIMET) this semester. Students, faculty and staff at both institutions now have access to a virtual library with e-books and educational videos. In addition, they will be able to benefit from library-related trainings, as well as trainings in the areas of education and technology.
Mech-Tech College "has technical programmes in the areas of Automotive Mechanics, Industrial Electromechanics, Electrical, Refrigeration, Sheet Metal and Industrial Welding. It also offers associate degrees in the areas of Automotive Mechanics, Biomedical Equipment Repair and in Electrical Engineering Technologies, Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Electromechanics".
Emma's Beauty Academy provides occupational education in the beauty arts: Barbering, Cosmetology, Makeup Specialist, Facial, Body and Makeup Aesthetics, and Nail Technique. In addition, it offers the Master Barber Stylist and Master Coiffure programmes so that each graduate of the Barbering or Basic Cosmetology programme has the opportunity to pursue advanced studies with a view to improving and perfecting their preparation in the broad field of beauty.
COBIMET is a 19-year collaboration between academic libraries that share materials, resources, servers, licenses, purchases and even staff while remaining independent libraries. Current members are: American University of Puerto Rico, Atenas College, Centros Sor Isolina Ferré, Colegio Universitario de San Juan, Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico, Escuela de Enfermeros Anestesistas de Puerto Rico (EEAPR), International Technical College, Trinity College, Universidad Carlos Albizu, Universidad Central de Bayamón and Universal Technology College of Puerto Rico.
