Athens College joined the Consortium of Metropolitan Libraries (COBIMET) on November 1, 2019. Now Athens College students, faculty and staff will have direct access to more than 56,000 electronic resources. This alliance includes an application optimized for use with mobile phones and tablets, simultaneous search system and integration with the institutional authentication system.
New members will also have access to an expanded collection through the virtual interlibrary loan system. Access to this service will allow users to request printed resources from member libraries and electronic resources from other library systems. In addition, they will be able to benefit from trainings related to library topics, as well as trainings in the areas of education and technology.
"At Atenas College we are very happy to be part of the Consortium of Metropolitan Libraries (COBIMET). With the acquisition of these services, the institutional community will have a wide range of multidisciplinary collections to strengthen the teaching-learning process. Among the benefits are: the virtual library, the mobile application, professional development workshops and interlibrary loans with the universities that are part of the Consortium, said Dr. María L. Hernández Núñez, President of Atenas College.
Carlos Crespo, Executive Director of COBIMET, said: "We are excited to increase our membership with the integration of an institution like Atenas College. We continue to explore new ways to serve all our members and their users.
