Last March 14 through an executive order, President Trump ordered the substantial reduction of funds and personnel to the 𝙄𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙩𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙈𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙪𝙢 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙇𝙞𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙧𝙮 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨. (𝙄𝙄𝙈𝙇𝙎). The possible closure or dismantling of IMLS represents a serious threat to libraries and museums in Puerto Rico and the United States, fundamental institutions for education, culture and the preservation of historical heritage. COBIMET joins the demand of organizations that group librarians such as ALA, Society of Librarians and I love Libraries to reverse this initiative.

🌎 Organized by Cengage Learning, the event brought together more than 50 professionals from Puerto Rico and Colombia to explore trends in the digital transformation of libraries. 📚

Last December 10, 2024 we initiated interviews to identify digital preservation needs in municipal documentary archives and public libraries in the metropolitan area of Puerto Rico. 📚🌍
